Amanda is an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner who completed her Master in Practice diploma of Osteopathic Manipulative Sciences from the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in 2019. The CAO program is an intensive 4-years with over 1000 hours of clinical training and an in-depth study of human anatomy, physiology, mechanics, as well as Osteopathic history, theory and manual manipulation. The CAO teaches principles-based Classical Osteopathy, meaning that treatment is unique to each patient on every visit.
Amanda is focusing her practice on the pediatric population and has taken multiple continuing education courses to learn how to best serve this population.
Amanda is a member of the Ontario Osteopathic Association. Treatments are eligible for coverage by most extended benefit plans.
Amanda has always been passionate about health, the human body, and movement. When she discovered Osteopathic treatment for help with her own health, she knew very quickly that she needed to facilitate healing for others in this way. The Osteopathic perspective resonates strongly with Amanda’s deep-rooted belief that an individual is a whole, collective unit and that true health depends on the entire system working well together. Amanda is continually amazed and humbled by the body’s innate ability to heal.
WHAT IS OSTEOPATHY?
Osteopathy is a holistic form of manual therapy. Rather than treating symptoms, disease or injury, the patient is treated as a whole to promote health.
Osteopathic treatment is based on the principles that the body has self-healing properties and that all anatomical structures are related and influence each other. When the anatomical framework is out of balance, it cannot function to its full capacity, leading to a dysfunctional state of health. The goal of treatment is to return the anatomical framework to normal, where it is aligned, coordinated and moving freely. This liberates nerves, arteries, veins and lymphatic vessels promoting healing.
Amanda works with the body through hands-on adjustments of fascia, muscles, ligaments and other soft tissues. Changes are non-invasive and are made gradually over time so the results are effective and long lasting.
